    two days before flying
Yesterday, Betty picked me up from the PC office and said we were going somewhere. I did not complain. I like surprises and we are riding her car anyway. A few min on the road, she pulled out freshly made mango juice. It was made just for me! It tastes nice. This is the second time she prepared some thing for me. The other day I told her I like home baked bread and the next day I had big piece of bread on my hand.

We went to Aburi Botanical Garden. ( The garden is located on a mountain, thus the air was cooler than the whole Ghana.

hi there, this feels strange. I now it has been very long since my last update. I even thought it would be impossible to update LJ from Ghana. The thing is it is not really that bad. I am going to be in Southdakota and DC from 28 july to 28 August. As soon as I come back.... you will see... I will post pics and update all the time. I promise.

I am now in Tamale to check email, shopping and enjoying eating meat. I know it sounds weird to talk about meat, but there is no decent prepared meal in my site, so everytime I am away, I am eating out and living it up.

Nina when are you going to Florida? or are you already there?

    bye for now.

    today at noon
I woke up at someone's house with bad hangover and sneezing that lasted ten min. On my way to home, I noticed there is unusually heavy traffic for brookings. I know why tomorrow Saturday May 1st is graduation for those completed their work. I should have been one of them. Instead I choose to work on my thesis only when once in a blue moon. and got drunk and high every night even on sunday and monday nights. What the hell is happening to me? I need to find a balance.

I am still excited about getting posted in Ghana eventhough it has been six days since I found out. My only requirment of a country was, anywhere as long as it does not get cold!!

Ghana basically has three kinds of climate: hot and humid, hot and rainy or hot and dry. From my research, I found out that there is no such thing as the bad part of Ghana. In the south, you can enjoy the beautiful white sand beach. In the middle, you are surrounded by lush water falls, green forest and wild and exotic animals. In the north, the air is dry and the senery is breathtaking.

I also heard, there is so much gold in the country. I bet all the fellows have nice bling bling and shorties are deck out in gold from hair to toe.

If you ask me, right now, I am in love with Ghana. I am listening to Fela Anikula kuti. African funk is way ahead of our time.

I called the Peace Corps Placement office this afternoon. I was surprise how helpful the placement officer was. She was just great. She knows everything about my file. I wrote in the application how my dad was taught by Peace Corps teachers in 1964 and how that make me feel. She told me she liked that part and I told her how I did n't think anyone would read that and even think about for a second.

She told me based on her assessment I am an excellent PCV candidate. I knew she is going to say BUT. "BUT because of budget cuts, the program that was supposed to start in late June had been canceled and you are assigned to another program to depart mid september for the same type of program in Western instead of Southern Africa."

I guess have to start thinking about west africa now. I can learn french and begin relating to the french speaking world. I can not wait!! There is a part of me that wants to start this whole thing as soon as possible, like tomorrow!!

    I knew this.
Democrat - You believe that there should be a free
market which is reigned in by a modest state
beaurocracy. You think that capitalism has
some good things, but that those it helps
should be obliged to help out their fellow man
a little. Your historical role model is
    Franklin Rosevelt.

    Which political sterotype are you?

Peace Corps had placed me somewhere but no one so far could tell me where I am going. I saw 'i dreamed of Africa'. And immdiately decided to live in Africa as a farmer or a rancher the rest of my life. I know nothing about both. I will learn from the job. I am that determined. Writing the stupid thesis is taking me longer than I expected. I partied 5 days out of the last 7. Each night getting home around 7am. Today around sun set, I went out for a drive. It was raining lightly with the sun partially out. The sky had dark and colorful clouds. You can see the land for miles and miles. It was beautiful.

    here it is
This afternoon, I found out the peace corps had placed me in a country. I have to call them and find out. I do not care where they send me as long as they speak English, they drink beer and they have cute girls who dig a foreign guy:) Honestly, I do not care where I am assigned as long as I do not have to deal with cold winters and snow. I lived in a high altitude place before. I like the thin mountain air. Waking up in the early morning and walking on wet grass and watching foggy hills. Talk about waking up early, I have not done that for a while.
Tonight, I went downtown for a couple of beers. I met a woman who wanted to have her picture take with me. I know what you are thinking. What the hell? was the first thing that came out of my mouth. she said she wanted to tell her friends she met a hunky. I put my arms around her and smiled for the camera. My friend's wife and her friend were with me they thought it was cool.
